Dr. Tamara Vardy

Boyd ISD Superintendent

Dr. Tamara Vardy is beginning her 20th year of service in public school education with completing her first year in Boyd ISD in January 2021. She began her career in Burleson ISD where she served as substitute teacher, classroom teacher, at-risk student advocate, assistant principal, academic assistant principal, and principal. In 2012, she accepted a principal position in Mansfield ISD where she soon became director in student services and held various leadership roles in district operations and achievement. On December 16, 2019, Dr. Vardy was officially named the Boyd ISD superintendent becoming the first female superintendent in the district’s history. Vision 2025

  • Dr. Vardy is committed to preparing students to be college, career, military, and life ready with her work in creating Vision 2025. The Cadence of Accountability process will ensure Boyd ISD is prepared for current growth in both academics and enrollment, while assuring a systemic, district-wide process is founded for generations to come. In addition, she works with students through the Superintendent’s Advisory Council to gain insight from our students on future readiness and social and emotional support. Dr. Vardy is committed to placing student and family interests first by creating student opportunities for industry certifications and college credit. 

education background

  • After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Texas Tech University, she worked as a college textbook editor for Harcourt Brace College Publishers. As a daughter of a superintendent who served Texas students for over 38 years, Dr. Vardy sought out her teacher certification. Dr. Vardy obtained her Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration and later received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership both from Tarleton State University. She holds State Board for Educator Certification as a classroom teacher, principal, and superintendent.

Family Life

  • Tamara came to reside in Boyd in January of 2020 with her husband, Chris, of 26 years who works as a contract administrator with Interconnect Wiring. They have two sons, Brendan, who is a 2018 Bachelor of Arts graduate of Full Sail University and works in the film industry, and Christopher, who is a Junior and 4th generation Red Raider (on both his mom’s & dad’s side) at Texas Tech University.
